French Parts of the Body Read Aloud

Read Aloud with Madame Angel: Ça va mal

Are you teaching about the Parts of the Body in French? Then this book, Ça va mal is for you! I love the excitement this book brings to students as they use it to learn the expression “J’ai mal . . .”

Each page in this Emergent Reader features a sad child who is hurt on some part of their body! The colourful band aids indicate where!

As with all of my Readers, the package features a “Big Book” option! Print this out and place it on your reading shelf. Once students are familiar with the text, they love to come back to read it over and over again!

I also like to have students make their own book that they can keep in their book box or take home to share with families. Students love the option to colour and cut and paste band aids to the correct parts of the body.

And for the final task I love to do with this book – create a Class Book! We make a lot of class books over the course of the year. Each child contributes a page and they love to see how much their writing has changed over the course of the year! I try and make enough to send home one with every student at the end of the school year!

For this class book, students need to draw a picture of someone who is hurt. They need to either write their own sentence or use the provided prompt to indicate which part of the body and then put a band aid on the spot! While I do include band aids to photocopy, I think it is more fun to use real band aids!
