Comment capturer un farafadet is a humourous book that recounts the story of a leprechaun that goes from house to house causing mischief. Meanwhile the children have created a series of traps in an attempt to outwit him! Unfortunately their traps do not work and the leprechaun challenges them to try and catch him if they can!

I love to use this book as a Springboard for literacy activities. I like to have students write about how they would capture a leprechaun if they were to meet him face to face! If you have already taught how to use sequencing language, this is a great opportunity to use a first, then, next format! Or for younger children, you may find it easier to have them draw a picture and write a simple sentence!

I also love making class books! You could have each child create their own page or design their own trap, write about it and put it together in a class book! Students love to go back and look at the work that everyone has done and their ideas are so much fun to read!

If you would like any of the resources I mentioned, I have created this fun little package with the writing pages! In addition to the writing pages and class book cover, the resource also includes a vocabulary list to help your students with some key vocabulary! Happy Leprechaun catching!
