Read Aloud with Madame Angel: Où est le lama?

C’est la Saint-Valentin! Teaching French prepositions of place has never been easier than with this fun read aloud!

French Read Aloud Valentine's Day Prepositions

This Valentine themed book in French features the cutest little llama!  The llama is seen a variety of places to help your beginning French Immersion students practice the French prepositions of place.  The package comes in a “Big Book” format. Simply print and bind it together to place in a class library and to share with your students!

Once students are familiar with the text, I like to have them create their own version!  The package includes a colouring book version or you could use the fun and engaging cut-and-paste version!  Students need to cut the llama pictures out and glue them to the correct spaces in the booklet.  This is a great way to help assess students’ understanding of the concepts!

Once complete, the smaller booklets are great to send home with students to share with families. Students love being able to read books that they have had a hand in creating.

For the final task, try creating a class book!  Class books are a great opportunity to encourage collaboration and creativity!  Have each student draw a picture of a llama and then write a sentence using a French preposition to describe it’s location.  Once each student has completed their page, bind them together in a book.

Place the class book in your class library so that students can read them over and over again!

My French preposition of place book for Valentine’s day, “Où est le lama?” is available at La classe de Madame Angel on TPT!  You can also purchase the resource directly from the Teaching French Immersion store in Canadian dollars!
